  • Supports Self-Expression – Allows residents to be creative and playful, boosting confidence and mood.

  • Accessible for All – Even those who may not remember full lyrics can participate by offering single words or enjoying the group experience.

How to play

What You’ll Need:

  • A whiteboard or large sheet of paper

  • A marker

  • A well-known song (e.g. You Are My Sunshine or My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean)

  1. Choose a Song – Pick a familiar tune that most participants will recognise. Songs with simple, repetitive lyrics work best.

  2. Write the Lyrics – On a board or paper, write out the lyrics but leave out key words.

    For example:

You are my ______, my only ______. You make me ______ when skies are ______.

  3. Engage the Group – Encourage participants to suggest words to fill in the blanks. They can use the correct words or come up with funny, creative alternatives.

  4. Sing it Together – Once all the blanks are filled, sing the new version as a group, celebrating the fun and laughter!
