What You’ll Need:
A whiteboard or large sheet of paper
A marker
A well-known song (e.g. You Are My Sunshine or My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean)
Choose a Song – Pick a familiar tune that most participants will recognise. Songs with simple, repetitive lyrics work best.
Write the Lyrics – On a board or paper, write out the lyrics but leave out key words.
For example:
You are my ______, my only ______. You make me ______ when skies are ______.
Engage the Group – Encourage participants to suggest words to fill in the blanks. They can use the correct words or come up with funny, creative alternatives.
Sing it Together – Once all the blanks are filled, sing the new version as a group, celebrating the fun and laughter!
